Description

This coding bootcamp is designed for young learners aged 8-11 who are eager to explore the world of programming through fun, interactive learning using LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Prime. Students will combine creative building with foundational coding concepts to solve real-world challenges. By the end of the bootcamp, participants will be able to develop simple robotics and control their creations through coding, enhancing their problem-solving skills while igniting their passion for technology.

The learner will be able to:
a) Utilise block-based coding to control robotic systems and solve engaging challenges;
b) Demonstrate the ability to build and program LEGO® SPIKE™ Prime models to perform tasks and respond to inputs;
c) Apply logical thinking and a stepwise approach to create, test, and refine coding solutions;
d) Implement computational thinking skills to design solutions that meet specific criteria and improve robot performance; and
e) Collaborate with peers to enhance team-based problem-solving skills and develop effective strategies for completing group tasks.

Outcome Type:
Knowledge

The learner will be able to:
a) Understand the basics of robotics and programming by accurately explaining the key concepts behind sensors, motors, and control systems;
b) Apply basic coding concepts such as loops, conditionals, and events in a visual programming environment;
c) Recognise the connection between coding and real-world applications by exploring how robotic systems solve practical problems;
d) Use creative thinking to design solutions to a variety of challenges, gaining confidence in coding and technology; and
e) Demonstrate an understanding of how simple robotics can be programmed to automate tasks, improving both efficiency and innovation.

Requirements:
Students need to be able to read, write and communicate in English and able to use the internet and their devices to access online content. No previous coding or programming experience is required!
